Cross-benefits

(SAMPLE POST, STILL IN DRAFT MODE, LMK IF YOU'D LIKE ME TO WRITE THIS OUT)

One of the reasons I started this whole thing was because I felt I had been stuck in my development as a tennis player, despite practicing much and obviously cumulatively more.

In short: practicing more but not getting better.

So what are (other) ways to keep improving?

Despite warnings from others since early childhood that it might ruin my technique etc, I always enjoyed other racquet sports as well, and looked for inspiration there.
Examples: table tennis for quick reactions, badminton for overhead practice and lunges e.g. for tennis volleys.

(Can dive in deeper in another post, but I like the mindset and goal of being able to play everything, and adjust between the sports, and maybe bring something new and different over. Maybe innovate something?)

Part of the journey towards becoming a complete athlete.

The idea of creating / reaping compounding interest between "disciplines" - is that possible?
Meaning: practice the one thing and getting better, maybe even over-proportionally so, at the other?

Badminton play definitely helped my volley footwork and may even augment if not change that for tennis. One step in each direction to cover the net.

For the left / right work, I can say that practicing the (still) weaker side automatically helped the strong side. There's an increase in awareness, e.g. how exactly does a stroke work, what's a smooth movement, crisp contact, quality shot, where's the contact, what grip works best etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if even *only* practicing with the weaker side would improve the strong side as well. Sounds like a good candidate for a thesis down the road
